| Truview 1.1 > Lesson 1 - Introduction > Modes > Theory |
Leica TruView has three basic working modes: Measure, Markup and View.
In Measure mode, the Measure tab is displayed as shown below.

Figure 1 - The Measure tab.
TruView always opens the Measure tab by default. When in Measure mode, the Pan/Zoom Mode icon
is selected.
You can move your viewpoint in, out and around the scene allowing you to investigate your exact area of interest. You also have the ability to measure between two points or get the coordinate information for a single point. Note that the values are not placed in a permanent markup. Rather they disappear when you change modes. This mode only reports the data in the properties table at the left of the screen. You must use Markup Mode to place a dimension markup.
The following menu appears when you click the Right mouse button.

In Markup mode, the Markup tab is displayed, as shown below.

When in Markup mode, the Markup Mode icon
is selected.
This mode lets you markup the scene using geometry like lines and rectangles, or text. When in markup mode, the view is frozen like a screen capture, and markups are placed together as a group on a saved view. You can have many saved views, each with its own group of markups and its own name.

In View mode, the View tab displays, as shown below.

When in View mode, the View/Hyperlink Mode icon
is selected.
This mode lets you move from view to view. By switching views, you can see the unique markups stored in each view, and can even navigate to any hyperlinks that might also be stored. Hyperlinks are added in Markup mode, and can be accessed in View mode simply by clicking on them.

There are several ways to switch between modes in TruView. In some cases, the modes automatically switch to a new correct mode as you perform actions. For example, if you click on a markup tool, the system automatically switches you to the Markup Mode.
TruView always starts with Measure Mode activated. The Measure tab is selected and the Pan\Zoom Mode icon
is highlighted. To reenter Measure mode, select the Measure icon, the Measure tab, or one of the 3D Measurement/HotLink icons shown below.
